When Its All Been Said & Done-The End
Don Moen one of the best worship artist sang this song, “When it’s all been said and done, everything shall mean nothing…” This song reminds me of the end of time as Christians a time of judgement, a time of accountability to our creator God.
Have you ever watched a sad movie that you knew would end on a happy note? Knowing that things will get better helps us get through the painful parts. The Bible allows us to glimpse the end in order to help us get through our present trials. On Sept 11, 2001, the twin towers in America were destroyed, killing thousands. It was a terrible sight, to date it’s still scary to the thoughts of Americans. Coming back home in 2007/08, after elections we had a serious post-election violence that thousands of people lost their lives and thousands lost their property. I can imagine how millions were asking themselves, “When is the world going to end?”
As the year began, everyone was optimistic about this year and how goals were going to be accomplished. Then “Boom” COVID-19 happened. A video going round social media showing how a church in Italy lost at least 90% of its members died because of the pandemic. How sad! I can imagine how the pastor is feeling, very sad affair.
But what did Jesus taught about the end? Matthew 24:3-14 the bible gives us detailed illustrations of how the end will be: The emergence of false prophets, nations will rise against nations and Kingdom against kingdom, famine and earthquake in various places. The bible says all this are the beginning of earth pains. It goes a head to say many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other. Verses 14 which is my best verse the bible says, “And this gospel of the Kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.” What a better way of ending it.
Jesus teaches us about the end times. He provides many signs stated above. All this is happening! The end is coming closer. One expected day, Jesus will return in full glory and power to end the world as we know it. Those who have rejected him will mourn. Verses 30 of Matthew 24 the Bible says, “At that time the sign of the son of Man will appear in the sky, and all nations of the earth will mourn. They will se the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky with power and great glory.” This makes me to feel excited and look forward to that day, I hope we shall be among the number. But his own people will be gathered to him, verses 31 the scripture says, “And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other.”
We don’t know when it will happen, but one thing we’re sure of this: we are closer to the end today than we were yesterday. Are you ready?
