The concept of the rapture, or the event where Christians are taken up to meet Jesus in the air, has been a topic of interest and speculation for centuries. Some believe it will happen suddenly and without warning, while others believe there will be signs leading up to it. Regardless of what one may believe, the question of what would happen before the rapture of the saints is a topic worth exploring.
First and foremost, it’s important to note that the Bible does not give us a specific timeline or calendar of events leading up to the rapture. However, it does give us some clues and signs to look out for.
One of the most prominent signs mentioned in the Bible is the increase of wickedness and evil in the world. Second Timothy 3:1-5 states, “But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power.” This passage suggests that the world will become increasingly corrupt and immoral before the rapture takes place.
Another sign mentioned in the Bible is the rise of false prophets and false teachings. Jesus warned in Matthew 24:11, “Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many.” This suggests that before the rapture, there will be an increase in false teachings and deception, which may lead some astray from the truth.
Additionally, there may be an increase in natural disasters and wars before the rapture. Jesus stated in Matthew 24:6-7, “And you will hear of wars and rumours of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places.” This passage suggests that there may be an increase in global conflicts and natural disasters before the rapture takes place.
While these signs may suggest that the rapture is near, it’s important to remember that no one knows the day or hour of the rapture. As Jesus stated in Matthew 24:36, “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only.”
Finally, the signs leading up to the rapture of the saints may include an increase in wickedness and evil in the world, the rise of false prophets and false teachings, and an increase in natural disasters and wars. While these signs may suggest that the rapture is near, it’s important to remember that no one knows the day or hour of the rapture. Therefore, it’s essential for Christians to live each day as if it could be the day of the rapture, being faithful to God and sharing the Gospel with others.
