Call for Prayer and Fasting-09/04/2024

As we enter this new month of September, we are reminded of the powerful lesson from Matthew 17:14-21. Jesus took his disciples up the mountain, where they experienced His transfiguration. When they came down, they encountered a man whose son was suffering from severe seizures, often falling into fire or water. Despite their efforts, the disciples couldn’t heal the boy. Jesus rebuked the demon, healing the boy instantly, and explained to His disciples that their lack of faith was the reason they couldn’t cast out the demon. He emphasized that this kind of demon could only be driven out through prayer and fasting.

This story offers us a valuable insight. Just like the young man who often suffered from seizures, we also face recurring issues and stubborn challenges in our lives. Jesus has provided us with a powerful solution: prayer and fasting. It’s a tool to confront and overcome the obstacles that seem unmovable.

As we begin this new month, let us commit ourselves to prayer and fasting. This Wednesday, I invite you to join me in a time of seeking God’s face, focusing on the challenges that have proven stubborn in our lives. Remember, Jesus said, “This kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.”

Let’s fast from 6 AM to 6 PM. If you’re able, consider a dry fast without food or water. However, if health or strength requires, you can do a partial fast with water. Our guiding verse for this time will be Daniel 9:3-5: “So I turned to the Lord God and pleaded with him in prayer and petition, in fasting, and in sackcloth and ashes. I prayed to the LORD my God and confessed, ‘Lord, the great and awesome God, who keeps his covenant of love with those who love him and keep his commandments, we have sinned and done wrong.’”

As we fast and pray, let’s bring before God the challenges and issues that have weighed heavily on us. With faith the size of a mustard seed, let us believe that our Heavenly Father will hear our cries and bring healing, deliverance, and breakthrough.

Jeremiah 32:17 reminds us of another powerful truth: “Ah Lord God! Behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee.” Nothing is too hard for the Lord! He who created the heavens and the earth by His great power is more than able to handle every situation we bring before Him. As we embark on our time of prayer and fasting this Wednesday, let us hold firmly to this promise. Whether it’s a recurring challenge, a difficult situation, or a stubborn issue, remember that our God is mighty and nothing is beyond His power. He is ready to listen and answer when we call upon His name.

May God strengthen us as we embark on this journey of faith. Let us approach this time with humility, trust, and a heart fully surrendered to His will. Together, we will see the hand of God move mightily in our lives. Don’t miss this opportunity to experience God’s power in a profound way. Mark your calendars for this Wednesday, and let’s trust God to do the impossible!
